Specifically looking at the cheap WT-194 replacements for the 026 Stihls, but would like to hear anyone's experience with the Chinese carbs......I'm having a hard coming up with serviceable used ones and you can't argue that the price isn't right for the knock offs.

I've bought probably half-dozen or so from Dave. They have all performed flawlessly.
The WT194's can be had from fleabay for 30ish (if you have to go "whole-hawg").
Otherwise I would buy another from Dave without hesitation.

I used a few now on various machines from chainsaws to hedge cutters and strimmer. I found they can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes you can get a naff one that won't work normally tell the seller andirectly they send replacement. overall for the price you can't go wrong.

IIRC, Dave brought one of those a/m 194 style carbs to a GTG. Fit and finish was without a doubt on par with OEM. I'd buy one without hesitation. I wouldn't doubt some of these carbs are made by folks that make OEM, but are unable to brand them as such due to franchise/licensing agreements.

If a carb is cheap OEM, like the 194, I avoid them.

They're a crap shoot and nothing's worse than starting a Saw that you've just rebuilt and it won't run right. Had a few AM carbs that just wouldn't idle right and off idle response was sub par.

If a carb is under $50 new OEM, I go that way.

I bought a 194 clone from DDave about a year ago, for a friends 026. I put it on, and he has been running it ever since without an issue.

I bought one from DDave for a stock 026 just to try it. I replaced a WT403A no H carb. It does work and run strong. But I may add that they are very touchy to tune. You must constantly be aware of the tune. Sometimes they change from cut to cut for no apparent reason. Not quite like a good WT194. But they do work. They fit well.
I agree with Al. For the money, the WT194's from Walbro are the way to go.

Ddave won't sell you junk. he has bought stuff in bulk and had them tested out with members to get feedback on what he has to offer.
100% true Mike.

But your chances of getting a dud are just higher with AM.

Part of the price you pay for OEM is the quality control. If I put an OEM new on a Saw and the saws not right, I'm 99% sure it's not the carb.

I keep an OEM 194 here all the time for testing. If someone's Saw isn't right after I build it, I swap it over.

Richevys 026 had an off idle issue with his OEM 194. It would only bog when hot, not cold. It was supposed to be new on the Saw I bought. Unfortunately there were a lot of issues with the Saw that I don't want to get into. What runs right for others is an opinion. A saw that "runs good" except for having an issue idling and with throttle response isn't my opinion of what runs right.

Anyhow, on Jeffs saw we swapped in a new 194 OEM and his issues dissappeared.

Yup. I agree BikeMike. Just stating what I encountered. I carb swapped a real Walbro WT194 with a Chinese 194 carb and saw ran better with Genuine Walbro. Same saw, 2 carbs. One after the other. Saw worked and ran with both carbs. Walbro performed much better. Just stating my observations.
DDave does sell good stuff.

IL rebuild a walbro before I go to a off brand carb. walbro and tolotsen are by far my favorite carbs zama use to be but it's hard to get some kits for cheep ryan, ryobi, and other homeowner stuff

I have used many of the AM carbs. Normally they work well, but like many others said, sometimes they don't work well, or at all.
