One of the guys I fix saws for sends me the AM carbs with them when he drops them off. He said he can buy the carb cheaper than I can build it. I don't mind. I get to keep the OEM carbs...

I'm always building these 026's to resell, so budget is a factor. ...If they were for myself to keep I would buy the new Walbro and be done with it. ..Having said that, I need them to run well as I stand behind what I sell.

Sounds like the AM carbs are like most Chinese parts. Lacking quality control so there are inconsistencies. I think I'll still make a leap of faith and try some. ....Even the most reasonably priced new Walbro on eBay when I factor in shipping to Canada and the exchange, is going to cost me $75 or more, so the incentive is there for me to try them.

Hey Rob, I have built more than two dozen 026 and MS260 saws and have 10 now running those AM carbs bought from Huztl, never had a bad one yet. The early ones I got from them were actually a better carb for the ported 026`s than the stock 194 was...

I learned how to mod carbs by using the AM carbs. I chopped up a few carbs in the process, but it was worth the small expense for what I taught myself.

Now I only purchase AM carbs as I know how to mod them to get the results I want.

I’ve used quite a few AM carbs with varying degrees of success. The one problem area that isn’t easily solved with a $40 Walbro is 1128 carbs. I’ve tried 4 or 5 of them; one ($12 ebay special) was unusable. The others had some tuning issues.

Does anyone have a source for a decent carb besides getting them through Stihl? Something like what is available for 1122s (Walbro 76) ?

Yep, just got an 064 carb from them. They don’t seem to have an HD 1128 carb, though.

For what it's worth, I checked with Mitty Supply – because I was also considering buying one of their carbs – and according to lil.deloach@plattproducts.com the main jet size is .740mm.
