I have been looking for a new saw for some time now. I have a 2000 372xp witch is a great saw I just want another one a little smaller. I burn wood and own a woods of hard maple. I am leaning to a 550 XPG I want the heat option. 362 would be the next step up with heat is what I see. I have been watching many youtube videos and there are so many bar options out there I was thinking of the Oregon speed cut or just put a Total bar on it. I want a 20" bar. I am a little afraid of going from the 372 to a 550 the different's in time for cutting. Any thoughts of bars, chains, or anything about the 550 would be helpful. Eric

550 will pull a 325 /20" just fine

Im far from a Husky guy...but do both those saws have the same Husky mount? I thought the little husky had the "small mount" bar ? @Jon1212 ?

Are you wanting a smaller saw for liming and small stuff?
The jump will be big going from a 372 down to a 550. I prefer an 18" on a 550, I think they balance about perfect. With a 20 on them they feel odd to me.
I run a 20-24" on my 372's and 16-18" on 346/550's. For me that works out about right for the trees we have.

I am keeping the 372. I just want a 550 for the wheeler and smaller jobs like cleaning brush from a fence line where you don't need a big heavier saw. My question was what would be better on the 550 a Total bar or the new Oregon speed cut bar and chain? From what I understand is the 550 might handle the 20" better taking a narrower cut. I was looking for thoughts on my thinking if anyone ran the speed cut enough. Eric

I don't own a 550, but I love me some 50cc saws. I find a 20" .325 chain to be about the least desirable thing to file. I did the 18" chain on my 350/346 last night and also the 28" on my Dolmar. The 3/8 full skip on the Dolmar was fast and easy to file. That .325 on the Husky seemed like it would never end. I guess my point is that if you're keeping a bigger saw anyway, why run a 20" on the 550? I'd keep a 16-18" on it if I had one.

Also, good call on the heated handles. I ran both of my heated saws today. At 10F it was really nice to have them.

Looking over a 575 xp for a guy at work. He said it wouldn’t rev up he put new gas line and filter on it already, also rebuilt the carb. I had it running today and got it to rev up some but it’s studdering like the ignition is cutting out and in. Is a coil going bad common problem? Looked on eBay an no parts at all for a 575 that I saw, hate to buy a new coil just to try and see if that’s the problem.

I know this is an older thread, but still this year haha.

I run a 20" 3/8 full chisel on my ported 2253. Oils fine. pulls it fine. I can swap chains back and forth from other saws etc when setup like this.
