288’s are cool and all, they run good and are pretty bullet proof but if you actually want a work saw a 385/390 is a lot more user friendly, way better AV, chain tensioner set up, air filter access and faster. I had a ported 288 and my 2186 at the same time.... well the 288 is gone but not the 2186. Just my perspective

All good points and I hate that old school chain tensioner too. But, I still have an infatuation with the 288 that just makes me want more of them.

Yup I understand that, there’s days I regret selling the 288 even though I wasn’t using it much. They are a dam cool saw

That's funny, I had a 385 and a 288, the 385 went down the road because it didn't get used. If I needed more saw than a 272 the 288 got grabbed every time.

I grab my 288 when I don't need more saw. I run it every chance I get, but then I get tired after a few hours and pick up my 357...LOL

Yes, I agree. The excellent av and bottom fed quad transfers of the 385/390 lend themselves to being improved much better than others.

Well, I might be stepping into two-tone world with my first Creamiscle, but not an 064...rather and old 056 Mag II. Still waiting to hear on that little side deal, we have been super busy plowing snow lately.
