I have a mid engine mower with a Nikki carb #694080. It was spewing gas from the exhaust. I pulled it last night and cleaned what I could but aside from the float needle and the idle screw, I didn’t see anything that I could replace with a rebuild kit and I can’t find a new carb for it. Is there an interchangeable carb out there you guys know of? My mower is running again so I must have cleaned what I needed but I’m trying to decide if I need to upgrade to something that has more available parts.

This is what I came up with: 280702-0111-01 but that isn’t correct because I ordered a carb rebuild kit from that parts diagram and not even the bowl gasket fit. The stamp on the motor is ridiculously faint. The mower is 309005x51A. 2001, sorry not 2004. And yes, gas did get in with the oil, that’s on the list to replace before i use it again.

Is this a Briggs OHV engine with gravity feed carburetor? It seems quite possible that B&S made a running change to a different carb on that engine, replacement may be the only option. My stepdad once bought a new pressure washer with the same carb and engine and it was puking gas like crazy. The place he bought it from just swapped him a Honda powered unit at no cost, the best fix possible!

First the model posted is for an old L-head engine and not a OHV engine.

Finally had some spare time to Google the Nikki number which does correspond to Briggs part number as it is an internal number that Briggs ordered and did the mods on. Appears it was used on the 28V707-1113-E1 too. Briggs part number is 694941 (superseded to 699831) for the fore mention engine with the Carb kit being 694930. This kit lists for $70.

It looks like one good thing came from this research as the bowl appear to be the same as Nikki carburetor on Kohler I just replace the carb on because Kohler won't list the bowl for sell and I am needing a couple of them. I knew someone probably had them available.:) Tnx fellows for getting on the right track for my fuel bowl needs.
