Hi Folks.

I have been looking at 064's
I have 2 x 066's and one of them will be getting sported up but the old red light, as much as I love it, just doesnt perform as well with its limited coil etc.

Do the 064's run a limited coil?

Whats the difference and can an 064 be easily made into a slightly lighter better firewood saw?

If I am better off keeping the 066, which I think I will cause I love it, what can be/needs to be done to a 064 to make it a monster?

They generally popup in great condition for half the price of an 066

A 064 is a thing of beauty and should be worshipped at a high level.

They also can be very strong with the 52mm cylinder or you can put a 066 cylinder on them and make a hybrid.

I build gobs of 064 hybrids.

I've had my 064 since new.

Well Brewz, I don't think you will can make it a lighter - or better firewood saw, its all ready the best & just about the lightest. Now it seems like 064 cylinders are everywhere - 1 point in time it was cheaper to get a 066 cylinder & piston. Pick up a 385 & 064 tell me which saw you would rather run all day?

Well they are both good but am I better off persuing an unlimited coil on the 066?

The 064 I am looking at is a metal badge so probably a limited coil too

I guess I am wondering if its worth moving on the red light to build on the 064 for furewood work

You can always justify another saw.

If I could buy 064's for half the price of a 066, I'd spend my whole paycheck. I know things are different in your part of the world though. Any 064 is a great saw in my opinion.

I would like to have both but cant justify it

I have a second newer 066 that I am building up and it will probably get used as my milling saw

I am going to enquire about the 64, it looks to be in great shape

Ok
I know I can fit an unlimited coil to my redlight if I use the dual key flywheel, but will the duel key flywheel fit on the small crank?

I had a first year 064 that was limited and I was unimpressed except it weighed exactly the same as my 460R. They do have torque and would make an excellent fallers saw. As far as firewood goes, maybe because it was limited but in 24" and smaller wood my 038 magnum and 460 were much faster. Though once the wood was 36" the 064 was clearly superior. It also pulled a 32" bar faster than my 28" bar 7900 did as measured on video about 5 years ago.
