I wonder if they test like this or if they just let the math tell them where to go?

I have no idea I would imagine it’s a combination? It would be interesting to really find out what makes them stop where they do on a particular saw

They probably let the epa tell them where to go

Is building a strong woods ported saw like this really making it “dirtier”. ? I mean especially with the M Tronic isn’t compensating for the fuel and air mixture to a point ? I would think in some ways it’s making it more efficient?

The trouble with the EPA, when it comes to chainsaws, is they only monitor parts per hour compared to the cc of the saw. They will give up 20% performance to reduce emissions 5%!!! It is just stupid. It should be based on work produced.

Looks great Scott.

Intake changes make Muh head hurt on non-strato saws. On strato saws, it gives me a migraine.

I’m guessing you reduced the strato timing, so you’re gonna reduce the intake as well and try the trimmed piston game for gains/losses once you’ve got the uppers figured out?

I like your methods and thanks again for showing this.

Where do you guys learn about all this hocus pocus (other than through experimentation)? Are there any good books on chainsaw porting you'd recommend?

you guys give me too much credit, i'm not that smart. if I was I wouldn't be messing with chainsaws

You're pretty damn smart my friend.

I've been paying close attention to you for a great many years now Scott. Thanks for never leading me wrong, and always forcing me to think.
