IMG_0330.JPG IMG_0332.JPG Just about everything to finish freshening her up as well as enough spares to make it a long time hopefully.

I'm waiting on some gaskets and a decal set, then it's time to put a complete thin ring top end on it.

He sent me a 36" Oregon Pro bar and 404 chain as well. Plus a 2101 cover and brake. Does anyone have a band for one of these brakes?

Mounted that stuff up last night and will be going out milling with it this weekend hopefully.

The saw balances perfectly around the handlebar with this bar and chain combo on it.

It's a brass 'roller' over a steel centre shaft. The brass should be soft enough to minimize chain damage, but do its job. I think anything softer and the chain may just end up in the steel shaft under it. There's a few thou clearance between them and the brass is narrower too so it rolls freely (although I'm sure that'all be over the instant a tooth hits it at 70mph).

I may machine another collar of telfon for over that, or go get a hockey puck and cut a cookie out of it and machine that down to a useable size.

Anyway, it's going to the bush today to go play in the snow. I'll have to post pics after.

Here's a neat video with a ton of old 2100 footage:

Bought another 2100 today. Looks pretty clean, tons of compression. Needs a kill switch, bar and chain. 2100 deserves more chain/bar than a 20" 3/8!

Grabbed it on the way to location for work so I won't get to look it over really good for probably a week or so. Cold started in two pulls though. Best part? $240.

Couple pics of the 'new' 2100 I picked up last week plus a few of Dad's with the decals and new plastic swapped in from the 'new' saw. The new saw is a good runner but a bit rough around the edges. Dad's will stay pretty and the new one is going on the mill.

New saw runs really good and is really strong. The old girl puked a crank seal I think. Ran away on me and I killed it with the choke, I can hear a sucking sound on the pto side.

FWIW seals for that thing are relatively inexpensive .Just be careful installing them because you can roll the lip very easily if some isn't used to "shoe spoon" it over the step in the crankshaft .I use a piece of thin plastic tube similar to what taps and other tooling comes in .

FINALLY.... the 2nd order of new oil/fuel caps showed up.
Fit and seal perfectly so I sat them on the bench to see if there are any oil leaks coming from anywhere else.

Also got the new OEM recoil starter spring.

Now I am just waiting on new Oregon clutch drums from HLS and they will both be full going concerns

I have a side job this weekend taking down some pine for a local guy. I'm take both the 298 and my 285. Probably wont use the 298 b/c its wearing a 36" b/c right now. The 285 has a 24" on it so it might see some action.

1020161411.jpgi have a couple ol 2100's. The one on the left has no spark but a new top end. It pulls over twice as hard as the one on the right. I've cut big wood with my running 2100 and its impressive. Cant wait to cut with my non running 2100. It'll be assome!

Chased out the issues with the first 2100 finally tonight, PTO crank seal and the cylinder came loose! I'm going to do some careful checking on the cylinder screw holes. Not sure why they would have backed off. Maybe the aftermarket gasket squeezed that much after it ran? Should have compressed enough when it was torqued down you'd think.

Pressure test said the PTO seal was bad too, so it's getting done.

Brewz, I never noticed you had a half wrap on that 2101, I like it a lot. I'm finding the full wrap bars move on the lower mount and are hard on bolt holes.

The other 2100 is running very well. I put 2.5 gallons of fuel through it last weekend and milled a pile of spruce with it.

Here's the tail end of Dad dropping the tree he wants his bar top for his cabin out of. This is the first tree he's cut with a 2100 in 20 years. I think he was pretty exited. I asked if he wanted to drop it and I hardly got the words out of my mouth and he was taking the saw out of my hands.
