Just depends on where you're standing in the state, whether or not there's tons of trees, kinda like Colorado.

Does this thread apply to trees you're going to cut ? Need some pointers here from the experts. This ash on the left is broke on the stump about three feet from the ground and is leaning hard up in the top of a decent pecan on the right.
If I drop it in the direction of its lean it's going to rough up the pecan irs leaning into pretty good and totally flatten a nice young pecan tree across the ditch.

If we call the direction we are looking 12 O'clock the tree is leaning about 10:30-11:00 and i want it to go 9:00. Under normal circumstances I think you could swing that no problem but the way its busted on the stump I wonder. You can kind of see the limb in the pecan its leaning up against in the top.
I'd probably just let nature take it's course and deal with it when it hits the ground on its own but ive got family with young kids that ride their four wheelers in the lot where this tree is and I worry about it coming down while theyre out there.

I'm sure I can. The shape the stump is in I probably wouldn't want to pull too hard. Maybe get it tight and use it to swing it a little ?

I'm probably not the guy to answer, because I'm not an expert, but that stump is a bit concerning to me, judging by the pictures. Makes me wonder if ya couldn't just get a rope up there and put plenty of tension going in, say the 7:30, or 8 position, just to keep it away from the other tree. Then again, I'm not so sure I'd want to be cutting on that thing.

With the condition it's in, could you just pull the thing down?
