My 9 year old purchased his first firearm a month or so ago. It's a Bergara B14R, chambered in 22lr. Amazingly accurate little rifle. With the right ammo, it'll hang around the .5" group at 100 yds.

Right on!

Never heard of that brand, looks pretty sharp, I bet he loves the look of a big boy rifle in a caliber thats fun to shoot for kids.

Nice looking rig.
Train em young. Train em right.
Happy Memories.
Good post.

here in canada we got like 7 firearm rules that tried to replace the 4 rule system.

I only ever liked the 4 rules cause theres only 4 and most kids and adults can remember. They also are a pretty solid foundation for safe shooting in which if followed you will never have an accident

My first gun purchase was when I was 18 and bought a Ruger Mark II 22 pistol 5.5” bull barrel. Great pistol and I still have it. I used my high school graduation money to get it. Think it was around $180 back then. 22754B1F-4EE7-4004-A3C8-96F80B487931.jpeg

Mine was similar except I bought a new 10-22 at Bi-Mart. Still have it - I'm giving to my cousin's oldest son here soon.

Those are the best 22 pistols ever made imho. What sights did u put on it?

Have u messed with the newest Mark IV? They’re a lot easier to take down than previous years.

Sights are Clark. Steel trigger is a Clark set at 2lbs. Match barrel installed by Clark is a Lothar-Walther. I had it customized by Clark after I damaged it during a canoe trip. It’s extremely accurate. I sold my S&W 41 after comparing them.

Beautiful rifle. Leupold 3x9-40 vx1 ‘s have come way down in price the past couple of years.
I was thinking about a leupold 4-12 but with parallex adjustments. A compact leupold 3-9 would work also with AO adjustments. I like my squirrel scopes set at 50yds for parallex.

No experience with the Mark IV. Clark custom guns said they prefer modifying the Mark II. The late Jim
Clark Jr. competed with the Mark II similar to mine but with a compensator at the muzzle.

First gun I owned is my Marlin 995 that dad bought in 1983 and handed down to me a few years later. First gun I signed a yellow form on is my 1982 Marlin 1894C .357 carbine. Paid a whopping $250.00 for it in 1998 at the age of 19. The shop owner said nobody else showed any interest in it because it wasn't a .30-30 or .44. I would say I have put a few thousand rounds through it from mild .38's to H110 powered 180 grain .357's and never found a load it didn't like. These days I feed it Lee 125 and 158 grain lead slugs powered by a medium charge of 4756 or Unique. I have also turned down a couple of $1000 offers for it!

got it from my aunt, she said my great grandfather used it for deer back in the day. I always wondered what the story was on it before. I had cartridges made for it by a guy in ontario 10 years ago, shot it a few times and its been on the wall ever since above the tv

I was given several growing up. My first being a H&R Topper Jr. 410. I still have that gun and it has been passed to my kids. The first gun I purchased was Mossberg 835 and a Ruger 10/22 on the same form. That was in 2000. My 21st birthday I purchased a Kimber 1911 full-size.

Has a beautiful wood stock with a medium heavy sporter barrel. Balances well. I just need a scope for it.

I put a Leupold 2x7 VX rimfire scope on this 10/22, that has a Shilen barrel, BX1 trigger and JWH bolt. I liked the compact size of the scope. For a squirrel rifle, it fills the need.
I would have preferred an adjustable objective but that would have added size and weight. The parallax is set at 50yds on this scope, which for me is a good compromise.
