I haven't ran one yet that ports out real well, but stock for stock they are squarely between a 346 and 357. Dolmar Makita makes a 64dl "18" 3/8 that suits them real well
As cool as they may be, I just don't see a place for one then. I don't use the ones I've got so a half step just seems silly.
Start from scratch tho, 5105 and 79xx be the goods tho huh.

Start from scratch tho, 5105 and 79xx be the goods tho huh.
That's the way for me too. They don't fit in a lineup. But would make a perfect rugged one saw plan for firewood.

I know, I know...one saw? Different tools for different jobs, ya gotta have more than one. But if you had to choose one, what would it be?
I did a ton of hours on the blunt end of a 262 when it was my only saw. Now I think that the 357s are as good cutting wise but way better for ergonomics and whatnot.
So, one saw, it's an improved 357. And since I'd only have one, it'd be ported by a pro.
Won't recommend anything I haven't used so it is what it is.
