That's a piece of needle bearing...you better do some more investigatingWas that a chunk of the ring? And yes on the frustration of the price. That’s why I opted for a slightly used 575 top end for $80 on eBay. I’ll throw cabers on it and make it the 575

Nope that's the ring locating pin. That's a piece of needle bearing...you better do some more investigating
That pin seed weeeeeee I'm free at last. joke's aside that sucks but glad you got to it before it destroyed anything else. Now I need a piston for my 570XPView attachment 172763
My mistake!Nope that's the ring locating pin.
Yeah, I'm kinda pissed. I didn't plan on needing a hard to find piston. This is a new one on me. Cyl looks good, but I can dang near get a 575 piston and cylinder for the price of a 570 piston
I'm not to sure that it is the locating pin. There is no port window that would catch the locating pin and drive it up through the piston. How the hell does that even happen? It would be worth digging at the ring gap to see if the locating pin is still there or not. That very well could be a needle out of a wrist pin bearing. Perplexing!Nope that's the ring locating pin.
I dont see how its possible for a ring to be installed upside down.I wonder if the ring was installed incorrectly upside down causing the ring locating pin to foul. Take a second look at the piston pic the OP posted, the evidence is all there if the ring is upside down.
