The way I see it, the piston takes the most stress between the pressure applied to the crown and the bosses that apply that force to the wrist pin.
The flaw is on an arm supporting the piston skirt to reduce flex and rocking.
Am I wrong?
Those types of "voids" are common in many types of metal castings. A lot of times they're only visible when the part has failed. I don't think this one is significant enough to make a failure likely. I would prefer a piston not have this but wouldn't worry about it if I put it in a saw.
