How well a saw(or anything else) holds a tune goes a long way to how practical it is for work. If you are constantly retuning you're not producing. Very few things are more aggravating than having to F*CK with your tools.
I have always worn hearing protection running work saws (stock) yet I still have hearing damage go figure! ha...
I did mod a muff on a 066 one time work saw (stock Aussie 066) even cut the baffle out and opened up the outlets, I read on the interwebs for max power this is a must do mod- yeah right! haha...
Anyways I used the saw for one day like this and I was like your got to be joking its way too loud even with ear muffs!.. also it killed any torque the saw had it just had that over opened muffler gargle going on ...
Any moral to this story? no not really apart from the quieter the saw the better for me, yeah yeah I know I'm boring! haha...
