Howdy!

I've been working out of a Fiat Ducato van for a year now and I love it for contract climbing and most jobs that can be done with a small crew.

Best part is that I can stand upright in the van and get out of the elements when I need to, plus I have a workbench when needed.

It's got great manners on the road even when loaded. Plenty of power from the little 2.2L turbo diesel, really fuel efficient and enough space to carry whatever we need for a job.

Nice setup Dan.

I can only imagine some pics that are comin’ from this crew...candy vans and all. 😆
Lol. It ain't that kinda van Jason.

Doesn't all that cool stuff get dirty when you blow the chipper in the back door though?

No chips going in this van unless they are bagged first, Adam. I ain't trying to clean up that kind of mess. Lol.

So, next on the project list for this rig is bar storage and some hand tool holders. I've got a 5' bar and a 42" that I don't used everyday, so I'd like to tuck them away securely so I can easily access them when necessary. Probably going to make a small box and mount it to the underside of the roof.

cut slots under your vise to slide the bars along the bottom of the bench. Put a stop block for each length bar. door closed they are captured, yet accessible.

Good idea. I'm not sure I have enough length for the 5' bar....I'll have to measure and see.

I like vans..

I say every year I wanna buy a 1 ton promaster.

Some of the 4 wheel drive camper vans are sweet too.

They want to replace my GMC Savannah with one. I told them i will quit if i have to drive one. All the other techs hate theirs. Safety man wants the big brothery chit. They will flinch first. My van was supposed to be replaced in April or 150k. Currently at 188k. Needed tires and they put new Firestone light truck tires on it. So i guess they want me to stay. I just want a rear drive van that can fit in a carwash. The rear is just to carry parts and tools. Don't need to be able to stand in it.

Heres a few pics of the current rig. 2019 Chevrolet/Navistar/Knapheid collaboration. Known as a Silverado 5500 HD.
I call it 10 ton Tonya.
1. It goes across the scales at almost exactly 20,000 lbs.
2. It likes to hurt mfers.😣
Rather hard-sprung, but will haul whatever you want.

Currently being used as an outdoor kitchen. The 4 door cab is nice for taking along the grill and whatever provisions a guy needs to tailgate.
Also has a welder, torches, and most tools needed for work stuffs...

Sorry for the dark pics. Parking lot lights havent come on yet...😁
