I bought some chains a while back and when I went to put one on my saw it has a link hat doesn't fit the bar. I inspected the chain and it has one drive link that is 58 gauge and the rest are 50 gauge. Can I use another brand connecting links or do I need to get a Windsor set up. Please help me as this chain is useless on the wall.

If the required tools are available to You, break the loop at the wrong drive link and replace it with a correct one!

Otherwise:
Cut that ONE drive link off!

Or if You're OK with do-it-Yourself stuff grind/polish/file those .008" (only 0.2mm!) of the sides of the drive link.

I would try thinning the drive link first, if that fails I'd cut it off.

Whoever spun that loop didn't pay attention to what he's was doing.

I had thought to try and grind the link down to 50 gauge but like the idea of just cutting it off as it would be easy. I have a breaker that I need to pick up from my friend who deals in Oregon. But I don't have any Windsor links just Carlton links

I think you'll be successful in either of the three methods mentioned here. The easiest one seems like the best choice. :)

I have seen reply's from other (known) members (either here or on AS) suggesting to cut off a DL that was inserted backwards during spinning!
Seems to be the simplest an easiest solution.
