Although my entire lineup is Stihl, I've never had one that ended in a 1 or 2. so I can't weigh in on this dilemma of what to keep or sell.

362 is a turd.
The original was the biggest disappointment in a pro saw I've ever ran.
I had a 310 that was bone stock would beat the originals with a 24" lol.
Sell the 362 and that way you have a matching set.
261
361
461

Nothing is random.
This is great, then put a 271 in there, and why not a 281, and a 261 :b1:.
The MS361 is a keeper in my book. I'd rather have a clapped out 036 PRO than a brand new MS362. At least the 036 is worth fixing.
I enjoy the 361 I have myself, closest thing to a husky with a creamsicle coating, so @kfd518 you can probably figure out which one I would keep although the newest flavor 362cm is a strong runner too.

271 and 281 would throw off the 61’s ocd would be pinging on those that have it.

Okay, your right, should just go for the 262xp and the 288xp right off that bat, I was just trying to make the numbers line up lol.
Get that 361 ported or sell it and buy a ported one and you will have a great 3 saw plan(the rest won't get used much).
Here's mine that was done by Terry Landrum(wicked work saws).
That's a chunk of previously dead standing ash which is pretty hard wood.

No huskies here no dealers..... don’t like paying for shipping. My dealer does me pretty good on parts I can gripe at all.

Your a lucky man.
I have a good stihl dealer here, but he's 35 min away. I usually run them and if I have a problem I grab another saw and figure out what I will do with it later, sometimes I fix them, sometimes I sell them.

My guy has realized I’m in there buying parts to build saws all the time.... working on building a relationship with another also. My guy is looking to retire in the next couple of years..... that BLOWS. Trust me enough to do his personal work when he can’t do it cause he’s busy doing shop work....

Truth!!

I love my 361! Had a 310 as well, it ran with an 036 with base gasket delete and 185psi compression, the 310 wasn’t horrible with just a muffler mod, but the 361 is on another level, is outruns my clone 372 and it has 175psi compression and some tweaking, and is lighter! I would like to run a ported 261, but I can’t justify the cost! I have a super clean 026 I got for $50 and the 361 was $140

You should take over that shop since you talking about retiring from FD work.

I'll give you 300 plus shipping for both :deal:.
With a 20 in that same ash log my 440 pulls about the same times, put a 28 on and the story would change, the 361 is a nice saw for sure.

Not for what the owner would pay me! Plus even though he is back logged he’s still working out in the warehouse bad well. I like chainsaws..... not Weedeaters and blowers and nearly hate quik cut saws.

I got a 361 into the shop today for repairs from a tree removal company. It has good compression. Some idiot removed the muffler and then fastened in back on with no muffler bolts and no muffler gasket. The single machine screw on the front was holding it all together. Lord knows how.

I added back the missing bolts, the gasket, cleaned it up, and she started right up. Idle and acceleration were perfect. I may offer to buy it. My own 361 at age ten might like to have a brother to pal around with. But, I will never get this saw for $140 as Bigmac did. He stole that saw in Oregon and got away with it. Some guys have all the luck.

They are good saws, I got lucky with mine, I don’t know why he sold it that cheap he even had it in a yard sale for $150 and it didn’t sell, he said two guys looked at it from CL and walked!!!!
