Kinda what I was thinking. And I believe he painted it when he first got it. I do see it was painted at one point. It still has the OE Mahle cylinder

Got it going today. I was going to keep the paint like it was but after I had to strip the paint out of the fuel tank I couldn't keep it from taking the rest of the paint off. I kept the over spray on the cylinder when he repainted It in the 80's. I Replaced a list of worn parts. And thanks to iwhalpes for the muffler.

They cleaned up really well, and I would leave them with the battle scars. There is a level of sentimentality, and nostalgia with each and every one. Ask your dad about some of them, as I'm pretty sure he has a story or two to tell.

My dad died in February 2014, and the few momentos of his that I have, I leave as is. When I handle them, I take comfort in the knowledge that I am touching where he touched. Sappy, I know, but we were that close.

Just lost my dad two months ago... I totally get it. Not sappy.

Sorry to hear that. I feel bad for the people that doesn't see or talk to their dads. I work with mine so I talk to him every day.
I have a question for those guys that have these old saws. The specs say max rpm 8000. That seems really fat. And I'm running 40:1 mix. As soon as my air filter comes in I'm putting it in some wood so I want to have a idea on what I'm tuning at. At first it was running 9200 and that had a good four stroke.

Love the saw and the story behind it. I have never seen a muffler like that on a 65 or 77, is it for a 380CD or 480CD or the like? Looks for all the world like a 2100 muffler. I have a 65 that I am restoring for a friend, would love to find one of those mufflers for it, old one is rotted bad. Anyone happen to have a part number?

The original on it was like this which I couldn't fine. I found one other muffler on eBay and it was like my NOS muffler. Think my old one was called a jungle muffler? That's how it looked before the patch also
