Aluminum should make it non-sparking. Cheaper than working with beryllium I assume.

On the block and rounds. I'm trying to see where the connections of that coil(?)are at.
Oddity of the plastic bit makes me wonder if that was done for magnetic isolation or electrical.
mmm..practice part from machining class?
The railroad piece looks like an unfinished casting that might have become a control lever in the engine cab.
