What’s goin on here snake ? You hacking on one. The reflection trips me up sone
That intake is wildly different from where it started. Very nice work Mike. Have you ever tried giving it more time without going that wide? Just curious how it would respond considering the intake block is relatively small compared to that port window. Justa thinkin, I believe Joe kept his intake narrower but lowered it quite a bit. We’ll see how she runs tomorrow if the weather doesn’t keep him out plowing.

Nope you went the right way Joe this one with gasket was 72* it is now 79.5Yep, I lowered the floor by 10 degrees.. It was quite a distance. It sets at 79 degrees BTDC, maybe a shade under. Kinda wonder if I should have widened it some and lowered it less than I did???
You did good Joe just keep it up you can get more out of a MahleDang man! You REALLY opened up that intake!
I was concerned about the intake mounting bolt holes, I wanted to make sure I didn't take too much material out of there compromising their strength. I see I was probably over-thinking things?
You guys are probably doubting I even did this 288 at this point. Circumstances beyond my control prevented me from getting some demonstration vids again today. It snowed here most of the day so I had to stay late at work plowing and I didn't get done in time.. We're planning to try again tomorrow. Sorry fellas.
Do they use the same cylinder as the early 288s?

Well it just got me to thinking about case compression and how much is too much to lower the floor. I did this one without the BG so you ground out even more than I did!
I figured, my 394 is a beast with the intake at 80 deg, (but that's not the only trick in it's bag) so I thought the 288 being the same stroke should be well served with close to that same mark.
I think its gonna run just fine Joe. Your ports are dialed in way better than the stock timing on that cylinder now. Don’t forget about the rest of the 12 piece bandYep, I lowered the floor by 10 degrees.. It was quite a distance. It sets at 79 degrees BTDC, maybe a shade under. When I can keep a rope in it, it's a running sob for sure.I did one that turned out 81 and it is stout it got some more stuff going on inside it too T Roller runs it now.
