I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the perfect GTG! You were all a great bunch to hang out with. Special thanks to Lee and Scott for letting run so many big saws! Also to Steve for letting a Dolmar/Makita nut take home lots of goodies!

Lord willing and the creek don't rise... I'll be back next year!!!!!
Surprised you didn't have a shopping cart.......;)

You should see this thing! It's very well put together. I'm sure there will be a thread on it......Right guys????
To not derail this we will share in great detail on the dyno with a thread.

I did the electronics for it -- it reads and records several samples of RPMs and torque with magnets and HES on the shaft and a load cell that does 1 oz resolution is also read several times per second and recorded. You can then graph or download the files and plot in excel or whatever tool you want. It has wifi and can be controlled with computer, phone, tablet wirelessly.

It has 3 LED displays that show RPM, torque, and HP live that update 10 times per second.

Uses a microcontroller style platform and its in an enclosure very low power. When done you will be able to run on AC brick or connect to 12V car battery.

Plan to keep working on it til it's usable by everyone (as easy and automated as possible).

Stay tuned for a thread. Maybe I'll start one this eve since cat is out of bag.

Been working on this since CT GTG back in November! Really enjoy this stuff and the hardware software for it is where I can contribute best. So far Dan, Al, Randy, Fred, and Bill and I have been involved and the guys are pretty psyched. First home brew saw dyno with sensors and compute platform I think! More soon.

Great looking GTG bummed I missed. Thanks to all who shared video.

Bill and I will be at Dans CT GTG May 7th and we will have complete dyno debut there. Come out and check it out!

ITS UP!!!!!!!!!

The 350 challenge comparison vid ... WITH TIMES.

THANK YOU to DAN!!!! He ran these much better and more evenly than I could.

I used the stopwatch on my android phone....and was up a 4am taking times, so I hope these are close.

There will be discussion later. Lets just say Saw #4 is oem 346xp and saw #5 is hyway

I wanna say a big thanks to everyone from The Cutting Edge and to Adirondackstihl for putting on this GTG.

This was the first GTG I've attended and I had a great time. I'll definitely be going to more GTG in the future.

It was awesome to see and get to run all the great saws built by some of the best people and saw builders around.

I got to finally meet a lot of people face to face and shake a few hands. What an amazing group.

You guys rock!

I'm already thinking about next year....

All look strong MattyO. Great job!!

Thanks!

The only real confounder that showed up was Dan "stock" muffler modded saw. At least from these videos, his stock muffler modded saw was as fast or faster than the ported stuff.

Also, there is nearly a 3 seconds difference between Dan running a saw, and me running the same saw!

One piece of info that I do take away from this is that the oem cylinders do not totally trounce the AM stuff, at least, not by as wide of a margin as some would say. What I also take away is that apparently there are am cylinders than are simply not as good. the uk kit and the kafar kit were just not as good as the oem 346xp or the hyway kit. I dunno why, they were ported as identically as possible.

One other thing I took away is that is difficult to do much better than stock, though it is possible to do worse :)

Matt after we run them again in 2 weeks we can tear mine down and take a look. This is the saw I bought from @wigglesworth. He said he was pretty sure it was stock, he just did a muffler mod. Quite a big one too! It does still have limiters on the carb.
Maybe we should throw a stock muffler on to get a better feel for improvements?
