Not as impressive as some of the stuff here, but decent for a novice like me. White pine that was leaning towards my house. Found ants eating the bottom which would’ve turned it loose towards my porch sooner than later.

Used an old Poulan 1800 top handle to limb it and take the top out. Took the remaining 35-40ft down with the 044. IMG_6650_Original.jpegIMG_6619_Original.jpeg

The woods are a dangerous place.
This Ash split on the face side of the hinge after the middle of the log hit a rootball on the way down. The butt kicked up while the hinge was still attached.

And this Ash came apart at the crotch. A windblown for was lying in it, after I cut the fur loose at the butt and felled another heavier Ash down on top of its top section the middle of the fir log tore through the Ash.

Brought 5 six foot transport boxes out.

Ash has a bad reputation, especially dead stuff,

Pretty brave and well done for an amateur.
Thanks! I’ve felled quite a few out in the woods where there is little risk of hitting anything.

I have a bucket truck that I use to work on my house with (cheaper than renting a man lift every time I need one). I knew after I went up and knocked the top down it couldn’t reach the house even if I intentionally tried to send it that way.

There is a dead white oak towering over my garage that I am working on doing the same thing to.

I do the sizwell, but I've seen someone do a second vertical behind the apex to isolate the fiber frim the hinge. I tried it on this side leaner, it works? But most live pines are pretty good to swing within limits. I think I left too fat of a hinge on the holding side.20240220_114155.jpg20240220_114148.jpg20240220_114140.jpg20240220_114135.jpg
