Lightning did a number on that one...Dealing with a big and poorly placed elm and lightning stuck Linden. Found a bonus 6" worth of arrow shaft and field point in the Elm with my saw.....

Nice removals, especially in such a confined workspace and area. Like you said, homeowner is damn lucky it didn't come right on top of the roof or in his living room one.I'd never seen one quite like this it actually split the wood fibers vertically where the lightning entered the tree. You could physically see through the tree for about 8-10". The customer was very lucky that it didn't make the top fail completely and fall onto his house. I only had to cut about 4-5" into 25" trunk to make it fall. It was making me nervous even in the bucket going in to make the cut every little breeze was making the bad area flex back and forth. I think a stiff wind would have blown it over.
