Same chain for all cuts.

880 - Stihl RS .404 123dl
661 - shortened down to 117dl

Conclusion -

Think the TM880 is great for 41" and longer or a milling saw. Puts out a metric chit ton of torque! ...and bar oil!

Think the TM661 can get it done at 41". Have to clear the bar after each cut, to re-oil it. It's at the limit at 41". My personal setup is this 41" with .404 Full skip.

So the 41" is really too much for the saw. Kind of what I felt like with mine. Power was fine. The rest of the saw didn't like 50" of bar even in 30-36" of wood.

What kind of wood is that? Maple ?

some sort of maple

thanks for the video impressive both saws ran really good. what does that log measure about 36" across? and what kind of wood is it?

I suppose it's pretty close to 36" since the tip is sticking out. Some sort of Maple.

I didn't say that. If it oiled just a pinch more it would be perfect.

Heck the TM661 pulls the 60" 3/8th no problem. oil is the problem.

I felt like the bar is too much. Mounts maxed out on them even after new ones. I think they need a little update to fix mounts.
Mike, what do you mean maxed out? The shoulder that fits the slot barely holds the bar, like it’s not sticking proud enough?

The springs. 441 old version felt the same way. They added stiffer springs and helped. It's like a 346 with maybe a 24 is the best way to describe it
