Special thanks to @Ryan Browne for letting me test on his frozen ash wood. :D

These are the two chains I am considering running on the 661 41". I wanted to see the differences in cut speed and but mainly see how hot the saw got with each.

Up to this point on what I was getting a sense from watching the thermocouple that jug temp depended more on time in the wood then it did on the load on the saw. Both we're important. But it was seeming that time in wood raised the temp more.

Figured I best test it specifically cuz well you know me! lol Sooo this doesn't seem to be the case. The 404 took much longer but really wasn't that much hotter...relative to how much longer it took. In other words I was thinking if it took an extra 7 seconds that temp should be much much higher.

This makes sense to me. I see it this way...
There would come a point where the heat from combustion, and cooling properties of the Saw would reach an equilibrium and the temperature would rise slower and then not at all.
I’m guessing you have reached this point.

Where you would see the difference is how the load effects how quickly the equilibrium is reached.
