Trailer winch

Bought a 24’ full tilt trailer a month ago and it has the plate to install a winch on it. Looking for some recommendations on what winch to go with.

Superwinch, Ramsey, Smittybuilt, Warn, are some I can think of off the top of my head. All in the 12volt variety.
since you have a 24' trailer, and can haul heavy, I would think one would want a 12k lb pull or greater.

If your wanting a cheaper brand, viper has been good for me. You can find them on ebay. I've had a 3500lb on my 4 wheeler for over 10 years and bought a 8000lb for my trailer.
One thing to think about is with a tilt deck the winch cable will push the deck back flat unless you can lock it up.

Deck can be locked up. Looked at viper but they stopped making their larger winches so they are out.

Badlands units look nice for the price. I wouldn’t put one on my truck but a trailer or a tractor I would.

i looked at those and watched some videos as well. The smittybilt is the same price as the best harbor freight winch so I ruled that out already. Hopefully someone has a winch in their trailer that can give some real feedback

We just put one on a trailer at work, I will get pictures and specs tomorrow.

I’d look at line speed if it’s something you plan on using. Many 12k winches are just a geared down 8k

It was just put on, not sure it has even been used.

Have had a warn m1200 I got used many years ago and have put it through a lot. Like wheelies with my deuce….
