Not sure this is the right forum for this, buuut..

If one were resurrecting a saw with new P&C, would you delete base gasket, or not?

I'm not that comfortable with doing a delete, because I'm not a huge fan of using an adhesive in that area.. but, I'm a complete neophyte, and never tried it. I'd like to pick up a little compression.. so, has anyone cut their own gasket from a thinner material? This would seem to make me more comfortable.

Any thoughts? Pro or Con

First you have to check squish to see if you can delete. Have done deletes with motoseal with no problems.

I've done it both ways using gasket sealer in either case. No problems here, but some guys run into impossible starting problems because the compression can jump to over 2o0 psi without the gaslet.

I use gasket material 0,25 and 0,5 mm thick, thats 10 an 20 thou.

I use 1184 if I delete gasket, just make sure the deck is real flat in the seam between the case halves.

I assume the stock gasket on a Husqvarna 357 to be .015 to .o20 inch. I'd like to cut a gasket to.010, or .25mm as you say.. So, I assume it is doable..

Any preferred gasket material?
