Anyone know which needle goes to the low side and which goes to the high side? They both fit but are different shapes. One is a smooth transition fro wide to narrow. The other is same diameter with a shoulder type transition. Took them out without noting. Duh!

Since the one with the shoulder looks like the tip is way too fat for the L side of the HL`s I usually work on there is another sure fire way to tell which screw goes where. When both screws are installed and lightly bottomed out on the seats then both screw heads will be flush with each other. If you look at the reach ahead of the threads on each needle there is a difference in length, that will determine which screw goes where. Usually the stepped screw has a very small/fine tip on it for the L side but the screw in the pict seems to have a very fat tip on it.

The needle on the right is the low one. Not only are they usually sharper they're usually longer. Sometimes as you see here they are longer after the threads.
Some carbs have nearly identical screws in appearance so it's important to keep track.
