Curious to know your secret in obtaining all those 4x4's. Right place at the right time- inside job- luck?:hmmm::)
Just got the right line of work. A lot of our steel comes in as 4000# bundles of 5x10' sheets. There's about 12 bundles to a semi load that has 3 of these under each one so the forklifts can grab them from the side. With 8 lasers going, we go thru a lot of steel. I actually work on the other side of the shop, turning coils of steel into parts on big noisy punch presses.

It's not what you gross, it's what you take home, as a buddy of mine likes to say. I scored a nice 9' long future log splitter beam a couple years ago for scrap price when they upgraded a couple hoists - $30 some dollars vs ??? (much more) at the steel supply place if I had to buy new.

When I build my next splitter, I'll have work do the cutting bending and machining stuff, and just put it together at home. We can cut 1" steel on our big laser.

And a couple pics from today. I went to a charity cut for half a day, before I had to take off for non wood stuff. Progress by noonish:

2 splitters and a stand to cut logs on. Needs more splitters yet. 4 would be about right.
