I do, I got 2 saws for work when Helene hit , a 500i and a 592xp. Both worked flawlessly and got a lifetime of hours on them in about 4 months.
I wanted to personally own the 500i again, come spring I'll probably be looking at scratching the 592xp itch!
Despite the fan boys I think it's worth getting a 500 over the 462.

I havent been impressed with the 500 personally... however i also dont own one, but i have worked on quite a few of them at the last shop i worked at... the fanboys all say its better than a 661... which i may be biased here, but, none of them i have run have come close to a 661... and i personally have a ported 661 so that probably doesnt help matters, but i also have a 460 big bore that i am still breaking in, and it gives that ported 661 a run for its money... i think it might have more oomph where it matters for long bar work than a 500...

When people say this saw outcuts that saw what parameters are they using ? Does a 500 outcut a 661 with an 84 driver bar cutting a 20" log ? Idk...I'm assuming it does, I don't cut cookies and time cuts.

I don’t care what any queer bait with a pair of broakley sunglasses on YouTube says - put a 36" bar on them and use them in big wood and a 661 walks away from a 500 no problem, on top of that it oils longer bars better, it has a bigger clutch and also the chassis to maintain and sustain a bigger bar.

For MY use I think I wasted my money on a ported 500, it doesn't do anything for me.

Yes, it's always about the job at hand or what the "race" is in that determines the outcome of one saw or another coming out ahead.
Even chains can be much the same way, for instance a .325" NK chain can out cut 3/8" in limbs and small diameter wood. Go to a larger log and the opposite rings true. Go really big and .404" will take over. Then there's different cutter types, sharpening profiles, wood types... There's never a definitive answer to the age-old question of what's faster when it comes to chainsaws. It amounts to like playing pin the tail on the donkey.

...and be happy, even if your rig happens to be two tenths of a second slower than some other one out there. If five seconds added to your day, ruins it, you may have a time management problem, not a saw problem.

Pretty much everything i own has been muffler modded, 261,280, and 362 are not ported, the 194t, 044, 460, and 661 all have been massaged a touch.....

I like to learn by doing, instead of pay others to so stuff for me... translation i am a broke MFer... i also have been a certified stihl for the last 10 yrs, and going theu echo master training currently at my new place of employment LOL

Honestly a sharp chain will out cut any high dollar options.
I'm particular about my sharpening and honing those skills .
I've shown up at a cleanup with a 40 or old saw and out cut 3 other ( modern) saws because people can't sharpen a dam chain!
A good tune and a sharp chain will smoke a fancy mufflers and fan boys!

A friend of mine has a 661. We were working on a huge pecan tree after a storm. My 500i couldn’t keep up with his and it wasn’t even close. Both had new chains.

I think it started in the import fart car world , or for us old guys "rice burners" . I could be wrong ? It's just a general term for anything that people latch on to and nothing could be better.
