They are all NOS KS (KolbenSchmidt) 143's... [emoji48]

I have a couple NOS 123 top ends kicking around the shop somewhere too.

Ok, you suck lol
The problem is finding the right project to put these on. They aren't the rarest of birds to find but they definitely aren't easy to find either. I'd hate to put one on an old ratty looking saw. That being said you have to find a pretty clean unit to put one on. Blessing and curse at the same time.

I might have someone look at the port work on these a little later down the road and see if there are gains to be had. I hear these 123/143's are limited through the carb and not the ign. So I have some come up with some larger carb ideas that come from saws limited by ign and not carb. See what happens why you're not limited super low. I think the 123/143's were peeking at 6-8k rpm if I recall correctly.

Stroke is 40mm on both 133 and this. Do you know if the 143 will bolt to 133 chassis?

I have a 6401 with the BB kit, a 6421 that has a 7910 top end on order, a plain ol' 6421, and a little 460 on the way. Then I have my little red headed step child 5105 as the odd one of the bunch. I sure wish I had the blue version of the 5105. I likes dem blue ones.

Once I get them all cleaned up and running, I'll snap a family photo of them.

looks like the 143 crank is a different part for some reason. I think someone said there was a heavier bearing or something on the 143 and 133super.

Edit: the later 143 and 143mx had what dolmar called "contact ignitions" and so there was a change in the snout of the crank for those saws vs the 123/309/133/133S. As for the bearings... Dolmar used to use a roller type bearing from what I gather. It seems they were using these roller bearings on both sides of the crank. However, there is an IPL reference to the ability to replace the FW/Ign side bearing with a 6203-C4 ball bearing. The bearings are also cross referenced with each other making me believe that a set of 6203-C4 bearings can be used to replace both sides. The same IPL cross references all 4 versions of this saw. Thus making be believe that both bearings on the 123/133/133S/143/143Mx/309/343 can be replaced by 6203-C4.

I do not have first hand knowledge of this myself but am making inferences from the IPLs and other references that I have found.

I don't own this brand of saw, but I sure do like them for some reason. One day I will own one for sure. Keep the pics coming.

You son of a gun! Stepping in on my blue territory!?!?! o_O
:tiburon:

The blue 5105 has evaded me but it will only be a short time until the full line is being sold in dealers everywhere making them more available throughout the USA. I don't know how I feel about that since I started collecting the blue because they are something different you don't normally see. I have actually switched gears and started to look for some old school CC/CA/etc dolmars. They will be the ones that are harder to find in the future.

Different bottom ends aside, iirc, I was told you could bolt a 133/143 jug onto a 123.
Now will it hold up? Not as long I'm sure.
I could be mistaken though.

go back and read my edit: The cranks are different due to the crank snout and ign changes. I think the crank and bearings are the same throughout strength wise. Dolmar would have no reason to change tooling to change the crank between all of this series saws; it would just cost them more to make each saw and more parts to keep on hand. I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll have a problem bolting a 143 top end down (if you can find one).

The teal version of the 5105 is available as a EA5000P right now.
