Hello everybody. New guy here with a Dolly 5105. I've been a saw enthusiast my whole life, mostly using 30-40cc Poulans and Echoes. We moved to a place with bigger trees and so the time was right to get a bigger saw. A stoutly constructed 50-60cc machine with a lot of torque should be just the ticket.

I've been intrigued by Dolmars for quite awhile now. Certainly, the Sachs-Dolmar saws of the 80's are some of the best looking I've ever seen. So, I scored a gently used 5105 with 3/8" pitch 20" bar and chain for $190.00 on Fleabay. It still has the original bar and probably the chain as well.

This particular one has the Zama C1U-DM13B carb with the adjustments glued in place. The saw starts and revs easily and the spark plug is a nice coffee brown color so mebbe it's set right. I'll put it on the tach before I do any serious cutting to make sure. I found a new adjustable carb for only $37.00 so I went ahead and ordered it. Look forward to making some serious chips with this saw!
Good saw choice IMO. I have a 5105 and like it a lot. Wouldn't mind doing away with the fat easy-start system but otherwise it's a great cutter!

Guess I need to work on my 400 and get it running.

I love my Dolmars. After fighting with mowers and an aggravating carb all day. I grabbed my little PS400 out a few minutes ago, made up something resembling an air filter and threw some gas in it just to see if it would hit at all. About 8 pulls and the damn thing hit, 2 more and it was running. Made my day to hear that sucker fire up. Now for some parts and some TLC.

Might not be, given that saw is an uncommon silver edition and looks to be in cherry condition. Most of these are pretty beat nowadays. If this saw is someone's once in a lifetime, why not!

What years were they made and how many. 60cc or 68cc?

What length bar did you put the 7310 on Wilhelm ?
For the photo shoot, Carlton Speed Tip 24"! :)

Main work B&C setup will be 3/8" chisel full comp 20".
That's what they all wear most of the time and it's what I got used to these last 11 years. ;)

P.S./Edit:
In my previous post:
Dolmar PS-6400 @ 20"
Dolmar PS-7310 @ 24"
Dolmar PS-7900 @ 36"

The 7310 turned out real good from the pics :). I went for 24" 3/8 for the 7910 (now here and ..STIL.. never fueled ! ) as a upgrade from the 20" that comes as the standard bar sent with the saw from Germany.

If You got Your Dolmar PS-7910 from Germany, which spikes did she come with?

24" B&C setup should be great for Your PS-7910.
20" fully burried in knotty oak with an aggressive chain makes my PS-7900 yawn out of boredom and ease! :pesas:

The UK /Euro saws come with 1 inner spike ...the 2nd one in your pic from the left.
Its not common to see twin spike saws here.
A saw the size of the 7910 is only for ringing up any larger timber or dropping the odd bigger tree when i need to , most of the time its ps 420.. ps 5105 sort of jobs and timber size.

Yeah, I know that these saws come only with the inner small EU spike - I so far have three of these saws.
Was just checking whether anything changed.

Do Yourself a favor and purchase the outer clutch cover spike to match the inner one, the saw is much more stable with dual spikes when directly against the trees bark! :)
Chain chatter vibrations also seem to transfer much lesser to the saw when she's set up with dual spikes.

I know what it means to only have wood to cut that falls into the 40/50cc saw category - but I still utilize my PS-6400 & PS-7900, they're much more fun! :b1::banana:

They also help my arms to become longer ower time.

I usually deal with one technician in Hamburg if possible he is a bit of a fanatic when it comes too Dolmar and he is a specialist on accessories and extras
And he sorted a some of those big spikes

Iam just in the process of sending him a template of the huge CT spikes with the fixing end sloped back to fit 123 133 143 and if they turn out well might try the 153
