Wow.....that red 4000 is sweet.

Thanks Randy. The color in the pic is not good but the saw is actually bright orange. I have been looking for one of those for a couple of years.

My neighbor gave me the craftsman version of the 4000 grey and black it has the plated piston if that's the same model runs good 170 compression he bought it new and it still runs good.

Craftsman never carried the 4000 model. They had the 3400, 3700 and 3800. The plated piston model you have could be a 3400 (bore dia 1.810") or a 3800 (bore dia. 1.880") The 3400 version was 56cc and the 3700 and 3800 were 61cc

The 3700 and the 4000 had plated cylinders and bare pistons and used much thinner rings.

They are all very good dependable saws that will go for many years if taken care of.

I took the spark plug out and looked in the cylinder. There is a bunch of transfer. Hopefully I can save the cylinder.

I don't know squat about the older poulan saws. Does this muffler look stock to you guys? The back of the muffler is covered in braze weld.image.jpg

Yes, that 5200 muffler is stock.

You got some nice saws today!

Hopefully that 4000 cylinder will clean up.

Feel free to extract the horseshoe when you have a free moment.
