Update on the import charges debacle-

I just had to deal with UPS over some charges because they tried to impose a charge of $3416 😂 on a 372 I sent over.

They were stating that under HTS section 232 it was an aluminium derivative and that I had to give part numbers and steel, aluminium and copper content weights etc. A total joke. Under these terms a 200% import charge was implied.

After some digging I found that under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule Chapter 84, a chainsaw doesn’t fall under section 232 as it is a complete / finished machine.

The final import charges were $254.25. This was based on a $1638 invoice for the saw and extras.

Maybe this will help with anyone importing goods in the future.

The key fact is it was UPS not the United States that was trying to rape you and the receiver.

When I was younger we sold each other cars for "50$" so the tax man didn't rape us!😉
