Update on the import charges debacle-
I just had to deal with UPS over some charges because they tried to impose a charge of $3416

on a 372 I sent over.
They were stating that under HTS section 232 it was an aluminium derivative and that I had to give part numbers and steel, aluminium and copper content weights etc. A total joke. Under these terms a 200% import charge was implied.
After some digging I found that under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule Chapter 84, a chainsaw doesn’t fall under section 232 as it is a complete / finished machine.
The final import charges were $254.25. This was based on a $1638 invoice for the saw and extras.
Maybe this will help with anyone importing goods in the future.
