Here's more logs being hauled away......

View attachment 56229

I'm starting to get better at using this off-road truck's log grappler after only a week's work. I'm used to using excavator joysticks and this thing uses 4 levers using finger control.

Been putting on a couple hundred kilometres driving to site to site and Loading transport trucks.

Ajschainsaws: that 5 axle trailer has 2 steering axles. I don't drive that nice Peterbilt as it's owned by a company hired to haul away the logs.

As that 6 wheel loader is my first forwarder to operate, what did you find that's the dog's dangly bits about?

I'm finding that cold fingers don't work well with those 4 levers. Gets really jerky. LOL

Ajschainsaws: the log machine has been good so far other than the contact of human fingers to mechanical fingers.

The truck itself has had some issues with overheating (fixed) low engine oil pressure (fixed once overheating issue solved) and a power steering hose blowing (fixed)

This truck is a rental so how it's maintained is questionable but I do see that it's been greased and not sloppy feeling. So maybe just bad luck for us.

But I'd like to have a truck like that myself.

The reliability of a mechanical 3406b cat along with double frame, heavy duty Rockwell transport truck axles, floatation tires on all 6 wheels. Maybe have a 6x6 instead of just the rear drives.

I'd settle for the joystick style controls for the log machine though. ;)
