Those are a rarity up here these days. The bark disease has not all of them but a vast majority killed off.

They’re dying here too because of that. 60-70% of the wood I cut in a year is beech. At least this one was solid without the center being rotted out.

Douglas fir leaning over some houses in Yellow Pine, Idaho. At one time had steps nailed to it and had a radio antenna at the top, and Christmas lights almost to the top, amazingly I didn’t hit any nails.
