Neighbor's had a large wood pecker in theirs.
Just did my stove and chimney.
New glass and door gaskets.
Oh yes. I did my door gasket too.
I have never done my glass gasket. Are they hard to do?

Easier than the door, there is a pull off paper strip and exposed the sticky surface. The gasket folds nicely over the glass edge and sticks.
My stove is a osburn, bout 10yrs old.

This reminds me i need to get my wood stove cleaned out and up to snuff.
Love heating with wood. Got all my wood ready early this summer. Thinking
we might get hit harder than previous years.

Yep, time to start thinking about all that. Unfortunately I have an entire kitchen worth of cabinets stacked right next to my stove. And they're not even for my house. Mrs. Geek bought them thinking she could use them in a rental, but they have 42" uppers, and the house has a 7' ceiling, so that didn't work.

Anybody want a screaming deal on a bunch of oak faced cabinets? LOL

Our cast iron fireplace got completely disassembled, cleaned, welded up, reinforced and put back together with new sealant - it was leaking smoke everywhere being only 30+ years young.
We will look into getting it back into the house/living room with the cold rainy weather front approaching.

Chimney also still needs inspection, I just don't feel safe climbing the roof having wobbly knees from this cold I got.

I really don't have much to do .it's fire brick lined .It's only got 14 feet of single wall 22 gauge stainless inside an existing clay lined chimney .Takes maybe half an hour to shove a brush through it .Not really much creosote and it's pyrolited ,the kind that doesn't burn not the road tar stuff that will burn .I only do it once a year but I only burn at best 4-5 cords a year .Once it gets above 30 the damned thing is too hard to control .Makes old people open the widows and sit around in their underwear .

Cleaned chimney last weekend and the firebricks to be redone this one coming. My unit around 10 years old, paid for itself in 2 years.

Hampton Regency HI300. Cost me $4500 installed w high efficiency kit. Saved myself 750 gal of oil a year when it was $3 a gallon here.

Now I have gas heat, so it doesn’t save me quite as much. Probably wouldn’t have done it had gas been available back then.

There is still something about wood heat that’s different and worth the effort.

It was so warm last winter I doubt I burned much more than two cords of wood .I have between two and three stacked up and another cord and a half split .At the moment I'm on light duty until November recovering from a blow out .Failing to realize I'm 73 not 23 .I'm one of those old bull heads who refuse to grow old gracefully .I may burn out but I'll never rust up .:)
