Do you have an ohm meter ? That switch appears to break hot and neutral ...check white to red straight across ,and black to red straight across ....with a meter..

Sounds like a bad switch. Check the wires in the cord for resistance. Each wire from plug to switch should be less than 5 ohms. If those check good you can make some jumpers to temporarily bypass the switch. Plug it in and if the motor works then the cord and motor are good. If it doesnt then the motor is bad.

I cant recall the number but was far from 0 in both on and off positions.
So that mean bad switch propbly?

Yep, switches should have very low reistance. Under 5 ohms is usually ok. Any more than that is junk.

So rechecked it and first time got really high numbers like in the 50s. Then flipped switch a few time and got near 0 numbers.
Then flipped er to the squeeler position and she squeeled like a pig (that one was for you steve lol) Turned off and stopped.
So im not shure.
Pkid i got a new problem. My son came in here to get bolts and nocked motor off bench and broke plastic that holds the one brush so now im crazy glueing that togeather as well as my fingers.
This glue is great for fixing this kinda stuff.

a place i used to work had alot of shop vacs, and those switches always go bad, either only work sometimes or stop working all together, i usually just wire nut the neutrals together and get a regular toggle switch for the hot side and drill a hole in the cover for it

pretty sure in the on position the terminals are connected as drawn. I could be wrong. I fix a shop vac recently too. I had it gutted and was having trouble fingering it. It turned out to have an open inside the electrical plug.
