Got one of these little $#@#$ to repair. Can't really find much info.

If anyone can help answer these q's, would be appreciated.

Is there and after market piston available and secondly what type of bearings do they use.

This saw was pronounced unrepairable by a local dealer. Apprently big end is gone, cylinder and piston scored..Got it in pieces already, cylinder is perfect apart from carbon in exhaust, minor marks on piston, crank has good colour and no vertical play. Basically guessing 1 of three things. 1 they are full of something and just want to sell a new saw. 2 they don't know how to replace a seal. 3 mechanic to lazy to split a case..

they use roller bearing 505 39 47-01
and radial seals 505 39 40-01
there should be some numbers on you bearing. you can take it to the local bearing shop and they should be able to hook u up
can you load up some pics. probably can clean it up and install a new ring. cylinder kit is 115.00 on ebay

Thanks to both of you gentleman for the files :)

Given this abit more of an inspection. Needs new bearings, seals, a ring and a crank case gasket. P&C is fine.

I know I ranted about this earlier, but the dealer diagnosis really annoys me. Dealers/repairers are placed in a position of trust and when a diag comes back that has incorrect info in it that dirrects a client to buy a new saw that is nearly $1k US dollars here...

The last thing a dealer wants is a big end to grenade soon after putting a brand new top end on. Many will steer away unless the customer is willing to pay up for the whole bottom end replacement along with.
I can't speak for the dealer in question, but there are many out there who are truthful and try not to let people stick a $350-$450 bandaid on their saw when that money puts them halfway into a brand new one.

I have one coming into the shop next week. Tree service has 4 that are giving them problems. I hope I can get them figured out. Landing this customer would be fantastic for our shop.
