Thinking about changing things up a little and selling my jonsered saws and going to dolmar or stihl I have dealers for both half close. All the stuff about 026, 044, 064 ect. and 5105, 6100, 7910 I have been reading has me wondering. Has anyone made the switch and been happy or is this a grass is greener thing?

Definitely the grass is greener on the internet. None of the brands are worth swapping for another when looking at the money lost, and to what gain? Best stick a little money into the saws you have to keep them in good order in my opinion. Saw nuts are just that, nuts. If you keep listening to them you will be constantly swapping saws. Jonsered makes a good saw and you are not in any kind of bad shape owning them.

I own Huskys,Jreds,Olympic/Efcos, I've owned Stihls and use my saws at a near commercial level as my dealer puts it. The last three NEW saws I bought were Dolmars. Near Stihl build quality, better performance stock, and priced better.

The reason I know that is I am one, I'll admit it. If ya went by what I like, I'd send ya off in a whole other direction. There really is no end to it if you keep looking over the fence. Took me quite a few lessons to learn to be happy with what I had, and not with what I didn't. The J-reds I see around here in pro use hold up as good as any of the orange ones. Right now I have 5 saws I use, I couldn't imagine taking a hit selling them and spending more money replacing them all with new ones that do the same work as the old ones. That's my 2cents from this old saw nut.

I would never trade my dolmar 6100 for any of the current Jonsered or husky offerings. But if I had the chance to get a jred 2051 back in would love to have another. I would consider selling my stihl 192 for that. Dolmar makes more sense to me though. A lot better local support for Dolmar then both stihl and husqvarna put together.

Except they haven't actually been making any of them themselves after 1979, and for over a decade now they all have been a red and black version of some Husky model.

I think you are wrong. The 2051 doesn't have a husky counter part, or the 2095.
Unless I am mistaken what is the 2051 husky counter part?

I started off my crazyness with all pro Stihl (2-026's,036,044 10mm, 044 12mm, and a 066)! I parked the 026's after running a husky 254. I parked the 044's after running a husky 371. I then parked the 036 and 066 because of my 262 and 385.

I don't have anything against Stihl, but the huskies felt more comfortable to me. I now have only one Stihl left and it's not part of the original group. The rest are huskies and a dolmar 7900. Stihl also seem to bring more or sell faster then other brands. They in return seem to cost more new also.

I don't know, I like Stihls and Huskys both. Cut with a 372 one day and an 044 the next; 288 one day, 064 the next. I like the feel of a husky but Stihl's are the workhorses. Don't have to check the bolts on a Stihl as much as on a Husky either. Both have their pluses and minuses in my book. I've cut with Stihl my whole entire adult life, and am just getting into Huskys. Dolmar and Jreds don't know about to offer an opinion one way or another. My feeling is that different saws bring different results to the table, and its all in what one likes or is comfortable with. Its like anything in life, ask 10 people a question get 10 different answers! How will you know until you try the saw yourself?

You are absolutely correct. One saw may feel better in my hands and the way I use it differently than yours or other's. It all comes down to personal preference.

No I don't. I just like to hold them and make noise's. You don't have to polish them so much if you don't use them.

Don't be ashamed. You're not alone. I wasn't strong enough to admit this before. But now I'm among friends. I use my saws to cut wood also! Wow, I feel so much better now!

No mistake, both those were discontinued well over a decade ago, the 2095 being the last to go. The 2055 (that replaced the2051 in 1994) was the second last to go, as I recall it. There were no Husky counterpart to either, but they were made at the Husky factory (all Jonsereds made in Sweden were made there from 1987, the 630 and 670 from 1982).

Both those acquisitions were done around the same time frame by Electrolux, yet neither one will clean my floor. No wonder they broke it off later.
