That early version of the 262 had a computer box in the bottom of the rear handle, hence that storage compartment. The little cutout area housed an LED kinda like the red light 066. All it did was light up when a certain rpm was being recorded so it helped you tune the saw easier.
So do ya got any pics of this setup?? I googled for a bit but came up with nada

When did they switch from the 4 muffler bolts? I assume to 2...
I have only ever seen the 4 bolt mufflers on 1989 and 1990 saws. When the 4 small screws are removed, the cover comes off to access 2 short bolts that are deep in the muffler that bolt the muffler body to the cylinder. I have been looking for one of those 4 bolt covers for a long time but they are rare as elephant wings.

For me that's been the mythical part, never seen so much as a pic of the led on a saw.
yeah, and ive heard they scrapped that early on and then marketed it as a tool compartment. ive never seen or heard of anyone that has seen that setup on an actual saw.
