Wow those are real nice. I see they have those real early style mufflers with the 4 screws

I wonder if anyone on this site has owned and operated that version of the 262 that had a little led bulb in the rear handle and a computer?

When did they switch from the 4 muffler bolts? I assume to 2...

Looking at the pic, and im only assuming here, but those bolts look more like screws for the heat shield. I bet that behind that shield are the standard muffler bolts

Ya definitely just cover screws and I’m not sure how long they came like that but it’s a tell tale sign it’s an early on. As in ks cylinder and hda-87 carb. Also I always look for no decomp, plastic clutch cover and gas tank compartment

That early version of the 262 had a computer box in the bottom of the rear handle, hence that storage compartment. The little cutout area housed an LED kinda like the red light 066. All it did was light up when a certain rpm was being recorded so it helped you tune the saw easier.

I have one on a '91 saw, with an hda 87, only one I've run across.
Stock running saw, haven't yet had it apart to check timing numbers.
