I wonder if anyone on this site has owned and operated that version of the 262 that had a little led bulb in the rear handle and a computer?

Ya definitely just cover screws and I’m not sure how long they came like that but it’s a tell tale sign it’s an early on. As in ks cylinder and hda-87 carb. Also I always look for no decomp, plastic clutch cover and gas tank compartment

I wonder if all things being equal , does anybody know what the best non ported cylinder is. (Best factory numbers, nice ports.)

That early version of the 262 had a computer box in the bottom of the rear handle, hence that storage compartment. The little cutout area housed an LED kinda like the red light 066. All it did was light up when a certain rpm was being recorded so it helped you tune the saw easier.
