Very nice my friend. Glad you gave it a fair chance at what it was meant for. Let me know how you get along with the mtronic. I like the idea of them but want them to get run through the ringer before I go buying one. Hope it runs fantastic for ya.
Nah. You must have been using wrong fuel oil mixture. LolThats a lie , the stock 261s ive ran were dogs...almost as *s-wordty as a stock slow26.

If they cut wood then they are a good saw. Beats using a hand saw or axe. Its all in how you look at it. Be positive.
Its all in the eye of the BEERHOLDER.
I have an older carby 261. Are you guys saying that you can still buy new 261's that are non m-tronic? If so where? My dealer Doesn't have any and I don't see them on STIHLs web site.

Thanks, I was looking in a specific dealers page. I wonder if any dealer can get any of the saws listed on STIHLs home page. I noticed that they are making a non mtronic 201t as well. Has anyone had experience with these?

I like the mtron 201 waaay better..it rips with just a muffler mod.

I actually peeled the screen out of the spark arrestor and worked some wider weave screen into it..it was kind of a *b-word to do but it runs good.
Do you like the mtronic saws better in general? The only mtron I own is a 661. I like it a lot but time will tell if I like it better than my carbed saws.

You hit the nail on the head. When they are working correctly, I prefer the mtronic saws. With that said, I've had enough of them that didn't work properly to get a sour taste for them. 441c was the worst. One 261 had sluggish throttle response and my 661 is on the rich side but 2 of the 3 441cs I had would hunt for a tune in the cut to the point it felt like it was fighting you. The one that did work right was the cats behind though. It ran great and I never had to mess with the carb. Likewise, a properly running 550/562 is a thing of beauty with their excellent response and spool up.I honestly like them both for different reasons buddy , when the auto saws are running properly its hard to not really like them as a worksaw.
