Hello,

Was wondering if some members could help me out. I just came across a few used saws locally and I'm thinking about selling a 241 I have still brand new in box but the box has been opened. Can anybody help with what these go for nowadays? I don't want to ask too much or too little for it if I do sell and just wondering if it be worth it.

Thanks,

Matt

What part of Pa. are you from? There are plenty of people on here that wood like a NIB 241. The rules for using the classified ads are pretty strict. Perhaps the moderators will help you with an exception since you have been around for four years and bought the saw through this site.

Whoops, I see that the minimum thread count for classified ads is waived with longer membership.

Not a give away saw. I haven’t checked lately but after Stihl discontinued them they were a hot item to get. I gave my original to a friend who wanted a really light saw. I thought it would be easy to replace. Eventually found another nice one but had to pay as much as they had been selling for new.

I’m in Eastern Pa right on the Delaware River in Bucks County.

You can still purchase them new overseas, if you do a little digging, you can find out what they currently sell for new. Last I checked they were $870ish plus shipping to the states.

I got $700 for the last NIB 241 I sold, about a year ago. I’ve had two come thru and the next one that comes my way will stay.

Version 3 M-tronic on the 241 wasn't ever available here in the states. Unfortunately, because it's the better version. If I was gonna pay top dollar for one it wouldn't be an old version with a black solenoid.

Is there a way to tell which version it is without taking it apart to check the solenoid?

Check the DOM. yours appears to be a Euro model from decal on the brake flag and nothing on the brake handle.

You may have a V3.

Not scientific, but three adverts for 241s here, from a quick Google search, range from £649 / $837 to £747 / $963. Plus shipping!

The solenoid can be seen on the side of the carburetor with the shroud (cover) off. I'll try to find a picture. The version may be printed on the data decal under the trigger on the rear handle.

There is no data decal under the handle on Euro 241s, if he has a green solenoid I'd bet he has a V3.

Thank you. I didn’t want to take anything apart in case I did decide to sell but popping off the shroud shouldn’t be a problem.
