Stihl handlebar tubing

I had this thread on the other site so I thought I'd bring it here to. This is the Handel from my 660 that needed new tubing. I got the tubing from the stihl dealer. I tried to push it on and that's not going to happen! I ask around and not much information on how to do it was found just to use air. So I took the Handel and removed all the old tubing and lightly sanded the bar. I looked around the shop and found an old valve stem to be able to hook it to the air hose. I started with the regulator set at 30psi and 30psi is nowhere enough. I moved to 80psi and now we're talking. To install the tubing I start with no air. Apply some oil or dish soap to the bar and slide the tubing on as far as you can. then with one hand hold on to the forward end of the tubing tight to trap the air and apply air and slide it all the way around. If you let go lol befor you turn off the air repeat the above!!! I hope this may help someone. If you have another method share it. In all it took me 30min from start to finish.

That's pretty much the saw I noticed & thought that would look good on my 7900 red top.

Can't see the pics at the moment but I understand the method as I use it to install and remove M/C, ATV grips. The only thing I would ad is that silicone spray will help as well. I use it to install fuel line and pretty much anything rubber. You would think that it would leave a slick surface but it really doesn't.

I used to play with street bike back in the day. When we installed new grips we would use hairspray. It would lube the bar for sliding the grip on and once it dried it effectively glued the grip onto the handlebar.

I don't know how well this would work for installing the handle bar tubing on a saw but might be worth a shot.

I got mine at the Stihl shop. It had been ordered by accident and been on the shelf for a while. They made me a deal that I couldn't refuse.

What's the minimum waste amount one can leave on a piece for one bar? 6"?

I need one piece for an 028 bar if someone feels like selling me a piece.

It's easier to install and then cut.
