Hey! I’m new here. I have an old Stihl FC 56 C. I bought a new trimmer and the motor on the 56 is still good. I’d still like to use it somehow.
Is it possible to put a new straight shaft edger instead of the curved trimmer shaft and head?
Thanks for the help!

Yes. I want to change a curved shafted trimmer to a straight shaft edger.
If the shaft key matches between one with a straight shaft then it might be possible. Though if you try to use a straight shaft from a longer Stihl then you might run into issues with the smaller motor trying to turn a longer shaft (might lose RPMs). Though if you are trying to Frankenstein the Stihl motor with another brand shorter straight shaft, then you should not have any problem with RPM loss, the challenge then will be getting the motor to mate with the shaft.
