I won't argue with you, but I have been able to get by W/O doing it. Likely people like you with far more experience than me that can put it to good use. I would likely get myself into trouble doing it.

stihl bars meh rather have gb because you can grease them.

The bars that say "made in Australia" are good bars, some are Chinese junk now.

I like E Light bars on my top handles.

The Stihl E bars are significantly lighter than the ES. A 20" .050 Green E bar is 2 lb 4.3 oz; and a 24" .063 Yellow E bar is 3lb 0.6 oz.

The E bars give you a weight very close to the high cost AM light bars at a far lower price.

As shown in the chart, the ES light bars are about the lightest bars out there, but they are also very expensive.

Most of the bad leaners I have had to deal with were not solid trees. A bit scary when you take down an Oak leaner, on a rock ledge with no place to go, and the tree is about 90% hollow. The stump split to the bottom, but it went where it was supposed to go.

Well we have discussed Stihl's good bars, bad bars but not much about the ugly ones. So I thought I'd share my ugly 18" 'E' stihl bar I put on a diet today. Its 612 grams or 21.7 ounces for you Merican's who measure things funny. Its a 16" E bar above it. Its still really strong but needs resin before it gets used.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but if someone is in the market for a 60" bar, do yourself a favor and go with a Cannon. The Stihl "59 inch" is way too flexible and whippy with tons after bar sag. Cannon's are noticeably stiffer and thereby, to me, handle better. I feel even the Cannon 42" handles better than Stihl's 41".
