Stihl 261c coil

Anyone know if any other coils will fit a ms261c ? Don't really want to spend the money on oem. I can't seem to find an aftermarket one either. Thanks.

I just saw an old post on AS where someone used a 361 coil. I've got a 361 so I guess I'll try the coil off that see if it works.

just look up coil on stihl deal site. says 261 coil will only work on a 261

Finally got around to putting the 361 coil (1135 400 1300) on the 261. It is the same size so the fit was perfect. Started right up and ran good. I am just waiting for a new clutch drum to get here so I can get it in some wood. Still not sure what the difference Is between the coils other than the part number.

have you check the rpm? the rev limiter might be set to high. just a thought.

just check rpm its the same on both engines. should be good to go

I have not checked yet. As soon as I get the new drum and sprocket I'll check rpm's and post my findings.

no worries both saw have the same max rpm so the rev limits will be the same

As I know, the MS 361 coils are unlimited, isn`t it?

Got the saw on the tach today and every things good. 2800 rpms on idle and 13800 rpms.

Got the saw on the tach today and every things good. 2800 rpms on idle and 13800 rpms.

Now get it ported and see it turn 15800 rpms. lol
