Stihl 070/090 Farmertec Kits

Built a bunch of the 660's and 372's. Couple of the smaller ones. But never a 070. I was thinking about buying one for myself just to tinker with. It would be cool to get out every once and a while.

Are these kits worth a dam? Im not looking for a pro quality saw or anything. I've never seen or ran on of these kits so are they even close to a real stihl running wise?

A tree service company gave me a 660 kit that they started but could not finish the assembly. I finished the job for them. I was successful and it runs OK. It appears you were successful with the 372 kit. If you really want to take a shot at an 070, I say go for it. It's a gamble, but so is anthing that you buy these days. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I have a buddy with a built one that he wants to offload. PM me if you’re interested. Comes with a CHO90 p&c. He wanted me to buy it, so I looked it over. Too clunky for my tastes, but the manufacturing didn’t look awful. He said this one was an early clone and that the quality control got worse later. My personal experience with the clones saws is pretty negative, but opinions vary.
